This is an example of a week in the life of our Ancillary Sales Specialist.  Interested?  We are looking for an Ancillary Sales Specialist in Kelowna to work closely with the rest of the sales team to support and bring in new accounts.

  • Work in partnership with multiple areas within the organization, including account managers, sales administration.
  • Meet or exceed sales objectives and key results jointly created by the Ancillary Sales Manager and the CRO with input from other key stakeholders.
  • Must be motivated to work in a dynamic customer environment where multiple false-starts and restarts are possible.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate technical knowledge and understanding of product offerings to be able to support account managers in technical discussions and clarifications.
  • Qualify and develop leads and sales from our demand generation or marketing campaigns.
  • Contribute to sales pipeline by generating outbound leads and future customers through calls, emails, social media or other means.
  • Assist in presenting products or services, often combined into a complete solution, that would be beneficial to our clients’ business and compliment first-party offerings from Vitalis.
  • Attend meetings with account managers for sales presentations when required.
  • Accurately and responsibly be a face and name attached to the industry reputation Vitalis has earned of consistently providing an exceptional customer experience.
  • Assist Strategic Accounts Management in developing detailed presentations to communicate product technical information, pricing, and benefits to a range of potential buyers which may include: highly technical buyers, relationship buyers, and buyers unfamiliar with the science, physics, chemistry or technical background of the technology being presented.
  • Develop project and product suggestions to opportunities and customers.
  • Coordinate or participate in meetings with account managers for sales presentations when required.
  • Will often work in a team-selling environment where multiple salespersons, account managers, engineers or project managers collaborate to move an opportunity through various purchase decision milestones.
  • Occasionally participate in facility tours to current and potential customers to demonstrate our technology, innovation, and resources to support the customer long-term.
  • Phone and video conference etiquette is of the utmost importance.
  • Continually stay abreast of updates in science, technology, innovation and research by working with internal resources and external vendors.
  • Flexibility to cater to the business hours of our prospects and customers who may be based in other geographies.
  • Following the easing of international travel restrictions, the candidate must have a willingness and ability to occasionally travel, including international travel, to vendor facilities, and sales events.
  • Build long-term trusting relationships with clients both during and after their commitment to purchase.
  • When necessary, manage ancillary sales opportunities throughout all stages of the sales pipeline, including confirmation and post-sale follow up to ensure our customer’s needs and expectations are satisfied.
  • Must be comfortable acquiring new customers by winning them over from competitors and farming new opportunities from customer referrals.
  • Willingness and ability to work with customers and highly sensitive and confidential products, projects and documents with an exceptional level of ethics, values, integrity and trust


  • Considerable industrial, commercial, scientific, analytical equipment and technical sales or account management experience with a demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding objectives and key results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Extraordinary customer service commitment.
  • Thrives in an environment of ambiguity and change.
  • Previous experience in business-to-business (B2B) sales with average invoices in excess of $1M would be a considerable asset.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills at all levels of the complex buying team which may include C-Suite executives and professionals in the areas of operations, project management, application science, chemistry, botany, engineering and finance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Computer proficiency and the ability to accurately enter data and generate reports.
  • An ability to analyze and independently action on large data sets, graphs and charts.
  • Experience using online communication tools such as Zoom, WhatsApp, and Skype.
  • Salesforce and G Suite experience would be a considerable asset.
  • Negotiation and social problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress sales environment and multitask.
  • Experience using tools such as BC Bid to prepare, submit and win public and private RFP and RFQs.
  • Must have Canadian citizenship or a Canadian work visa
